Rooster is a pride of the yard, a host, a housekeeper; always alert and ready, proud and contentious. In our tradition he is the symbol of happiness and expansion, abundance and fine trade opportunities. He promises fertility, male children, easy childbirth and ability to manage difficult situations.
When a rooster crows in front of the door – guests are coming. According to a legend, St.Sava carried with him a rooster – to time the duration and divide light from dark. Therefore the rooster got an understandable position on the top of the roof to show the direction of wind and disperse the smoke from the hearth.
My paintings are only a reminder that each of us carries one such rooster in oneself. Look at the painting as you would look in the mirror. What you see will be a reflection of what is inside of you. I hope that you will recognise with ease your power and boldness, and that you will announce your awakening with the next sunrise.
